It’s a digital film-lab-in-a-box, and the hub of your tapeless workflow. The Codex Digital Lab can be easily configured to automatically provide a full set of deliverables – everything you need for your production and post, from viewing copies to archives. And it can produce them all in less time than traditional systems take to make a single copy.
The Digital Lab ingests digital production material from Codex recorders, as well as from tape, telecine and other digital systems. By linking with 3rd party RAID systems it provides high capacity and expandibility. All of the material can be kept online and is immediately available at any time for daily deliverables and reprints on-demand. When the edit is complete, the finishing-files can be generated automatically – in minutes or hours, not days.
It can completely manage a wide range of broadcast productions (multi-camera episodic TV, drama, light entertainment) and digital motion pictures. Multiple productions can be handled on a single unit, and it is designed for easy integration into the MCR of an editing/ VFX facility. The Digital Lab can even be directly-connected on set or location.
The Codex Digital Lab uses the Virtual File System to convert the original material – in any format from HD for television to the highest quality digital cinematography cameras – into editing files for Avid, Apple or Adobe. It also makes all finishing files and archives, as well as viewing files such as Quicktime or DVD. All of these have full metadata, colour-space conversion and look management. And it all happens in parallel, quicker than real-time. In addition, the Digital Lab can do play-outs to monitors or tape, complete pull-lists and even EDL conforms.
